Don’t expect different results, when you keep doing same things all over again

Hi guys,

Today I would like to talk about an aspect known probably by most of us. Either we are guilty of doing it or at least we know someone, who’s description I am going to present to you now.

Imagine the person, who says: “I would like to change my job, but there is no other job for me”. When asked: “Have you try to apply anywhere else?”.
“Yes, I did. But I haven’t got any response.”
“Have you thought why?”
“They all were requiring certain skills, which I don’t have. But I will keep trying to apply.”
“Have you done anything to get those skills?”
“No, but I will keep applying till I will get my dream job”.
This was just example. Person, who tries to get something, knows why he is not getting it, knows, what he should do to change it, but does nothing. Just keeps doing same, not working things, hoping that next time results will be different.
He might be lucky and that might be the case, but as he keeps trying with no desired results, chances for that are very low.
Any way, the person feels that he is doing his best. He keeps thinking that everything will change one day, even if he is making same mistakes all over again (in this made up story, he doesn’t get skills necessary for his dreamed job).
Although this isn’t a real story, I think all (or at least most) of us were in that place at least once. I like to call this kind of situation as ‘one day I will…’ time. After these three dots you can put whatever you want: one day I will get new job, start my business, travel, spend more time with my family, get skills I’ve always dreamed of and many more. Possibilities are endless, as many people as many cases (and also there are some, including myself, who could think about a lot of things to include in this statement). You know, this ‘I need to get my life together. One day I will…’
The only problem is that our life is passing by, it will not stop and take a break, just because we want it to. We also tend to forget that changes take time. We can change our attitude right away, but to see results of these changes, usually takes some time. It is very important thing to realise our power and believe in our ability to change the situation we are in.
Especially, that our actions might not work and we need to look for some other ways to make changes. If we will not give ourselves a chance to make a mistake, who else will?
So today, I have a challenge for each of you: think about your perfect life and decide what is your first step to get there. And most important: take this step, no matter how bouncy and hard this road seems to be.
That’s it for today’s post. I wish you a very productive day and I’ll see you in my next post.

How do I work with small baby at home?

Hi guys,
Today I would like to talk about a topic, which you can find a lot of questions about everywhere in the internet. There are a lot of people sharing their way of working with small baby at home, how they can to fit these two full time jobs (yes, having a baby is a full time job too, with no holiday or sick days). Answer is very simple: prioritize and make sure you are getting your stuff done whenever you can. Get as organised as you possibly cab.
I used to watch a lot of youtubers explaining how do they manage to work full time, while looking after baby or babies. They usually mention a lot of ways to make things they are doing last for as long as possible, like cook for three days, do light cleaning (like dusting, picking up stuff, etc) every day, and leave proper cleaning for one day a week. There are also advises to work while your children are asleep or busy with themselves (most of cases are for youtubers who work at home) and many more. However, the most common advice, repeating in almost every video I saw, was to use help of your family, like parents, cousins, etc.
Well, definitely great advise, there is only one problem in my case: both me and my husband are immigrants in London. My family lives in Poland, so it is a bit far for them to pop up whenever I need. My husband is from India, you can guess they might find it even more difficult to come.

So me and my husband had to manage on our own. And I must say, that our way is not perfect yet, even for us. But we are slowly but surely getting there. So let me tell you how do I work at home, after full time night shift job, while looking after baby at the same time.
First thing, is that we are trying to set our routine, which we are still working on. It is not perfect (I would say, there is still more to do, than it has been done already), but slowly, changing one thing at the time in our’s son’s life, we keep making it work well for us. I can’t say, there aren’t any obstacles on the way. When we wanted to move his sleeping time just for one hour earlier, we ended up with the little guy not sleeping during the nights at all for aprox. a week. But he is getting used to the new things. Also, he is ten months old now, so he likes to play on his own for a bit longer than he used to (usually no longer than half an hour and I need to sit not too far to make sure he won’t have any dangerous ideas), so this is the time I am using to plan my work day. After that I play with my son, take him for a walk, feed him again, change his nappy and it is nap time for him. It usually lasts for at least one hour, up to two. After he wakes up, I feed and change him again and spend some more time with him (yes, my life consists mostly of changing nappies 😉 ), before I need to leave to work. My husband is back from his work around half an hour before I need to leave, so this is time when he takes over looking after the little one while I am getting ready to leave.
Also, there are these moments when my son just sits on my laps and keeps falling asleep or play with my clothes or some toys. That time I am trying to do as much as I can too (although I can’t call it the most productive time of my day).
What about my chores? How does my home look like? Well, it is not as bad. Me and my husband share responsibility of keeping home clean. We do whatever it needs to be done. We have also some hacks, to make the process easier. For example, we cook more than we are able to eat and freeze the left overs, we do washing, when pile gets really big, this way we make sure that the washing machine isn’t running half empty. And we take turns in cleaning all the areas in home such a way, that each of us has just a small area to clean each day (let’s be honest here, except bathroom, kitchen and keeping floors clean on a daily basis, there is not such a thing like everything has to be clean every day). For some it might sound a bit weird and gross. But this is how it is. You can’t eat a cookie and have a cookie at the same time. You must give up on something, to be able to do something else. I can’t resign from my full time job just yet, as our finances would look horrible; I don’t want to sacrifice time for my son; the only thing left is home. It will not be spotless for some time, but it isn’t dirty either. So we can manage it 😉
And that’s it for today’s post. I hope that you enjoyed reading it. If you have some advices, please share them in the comment section below, I will be glad to read all of them. I wish you a very productive day and I’ll see you in my next post.

2020 as a year of setting up good habits

Hi guys,

Today I would like to talk about setting New Year’s goals in general. What is the purpose of making this unofficial agreement with yourself? Why on the beginning of year, not at any time?

For this second question answer is very simple. With each year starting, there are a lot of people everywhere (literally everywhere) reflecting on their achievements, failures and events happening the year before. They are getting excited for things they want to achieve in the upcoming year. This kind of remind us that “hey, we’ve made these resolutions a year ago, let’s see how much did we manage to actually do”. They could have been made at any time in a year, but let’s be honest. Who is actually checking progress of our actions just like that? Or maybe I am the only one who needs New Year to make sure that goals will be at least reviewed?

And with the purpose of setting goals at all, there is a more complex thing to think about. I’ve came across two opinions. First stated that setting these goals actually motivate you to take an action. Second, that focusing on your goals, writing them down and seeing list of your commitments works quite opposite. For me both of above are correct to some extend. Although, I am setting goals each year, not always I am actually achieving them. But I think I found a solution.

First of all, I am not dreaming about my goals. My list works for me as a reminder and guide. Each goal has also a working plan, where it is divided into smaller parts and steps to achieve each of these parts. And finally, I am scheduling goals related task into my to do lists on weekly basis (as I plan in weekly intervals). After some time I will share with you my process of planning.

This way, my goals are not just a nice bullets in my planner. Kind of “one day” things. They are actual tasks, scheduled to work on. Like immediately. Not one day. Making sure that each week, there are some at least small steps being made towards achieving them.

And that’s it for today’s post. I wish you a very productive day and I’ll see you in my next post.

Set up a routine which works for everyone at home and stick to it

Hi guys,

Today I will talk about last of my 2020 resolutions. As you could see in this post, I have decided to focus on some things which are very important to me at the moment. It might seem that I went easy on myself this year (and this is most likely true), but I wanted to set goals, which will be possible to achieve. A lot of them (if not all in some way) are connected to my financial situation, as this is the biggest problem at the moment. Although, I know that there are a lot of people in much worse situation, I am also aware that in case of any emergency, we will struggle to get back on our feet, if we will not fix it as soon as possible.

This is one of the reasons why we need to set up a routine. Having me and my husband working full time is helping us to keep paying our debt relatively quickly. But it also makes it very hard to manage. We were advised to employ someone to look after our son while we are in work. But I can’t trust any stranger to look after such small baby, especially that even if something would go wrong, he wouldn’t be able to tell us. This forced us to work in different shifts and as I can’t imagine being all day away from my son, I’ve chosen night shift (night shifts are hard too, but at least when I am working, little guy is sleeping most of the time).

There are some small things I would like to achieve in our family life, even though me and my husband are working on different shifts. I wish to be able to spend as much quality time with my son as it is possible, I would like to spend time with my husband and make sure that both of us can have time for ourselves (whether it is for working on personal projects or just relaxing). I want to make sure that our home is clean and that there is always food in our fridge too. It might seem impossible, especially with a small child. Some of you might think that I am neglecting my son just because I am working full time and I, dreaming about free time, might seem like a horrible mother. But I am a true believer that sacrificing all your dreams and goals for a baby will not do well for you and at the end for your child. Also, I think that being able to get an extra income is good for my son too. Hopefully, very soon will be able to put some funds aside for his future, we’ll be able to buy a home, so wherever life is going to take my son, he’ll always have a place to come and forget about all his problem. And finally, we’ll be able to provide for his development, give him opportunities to find his way, by simply being able to afford things, he wants to try.

Kids are very amazing and they learn unbelievably fast. But at the same time, they are not reading books or taking various courses secretly. They are learning by watching their surrounding. Especially in the beginning of their lives, we, as a parents, are all their world. I want to create believe in my son’s head that he can manage a lot of things, without neglecting anything, as long as he will try very hard. And that if you work hard on something you love doing, you can steer your life in any direction you want.

Altgough, I would like to share our routine now, I haven’t found any so far. We are still testing and keep changing small bits and pieces of it. I might be even wrong and I can’t make it work for all of my requirements, but about this I am going to tell you, when we are going to find something what will be at least the best for us.

And this is it for today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it. If yes, I will appreciate if you will like this post and leave your thoughts in this subject in the comment section (I will be happy to read and reply to every single comment). But for now I wish you all a very productive day and I’ll see you in my next post.

Have at least 1 hour of ‘working for your future’ every day

Hi guys,

Today I would procceed to explain my 2020 resolutions. As you’ve already seen by the title, I am going to handle in this post having a 1 hour of work for the future. But before I’ll explain why I’ve decided to have this resolution, I’ll try to explain you what I actually mean by working for the future.

As I mentioned in my very old posts, my my goal is to have a passive income, which will allow me not to have to work any more. I don’t intend to stop working in the closest future, but I just want to have this possibility if I want.

To create a passive income, you could have to ways: you can invest money, which is not an option for me (at least not at this point of my life) or invest time for working on such projects, which will keep bringing you money afterwards, without you spending time on them any more. As I am going for this second option, I work on certain projects, which I call projects for the future.

So why I made it as a 2020 resolution? Answer is simple: because I started working on some projects in 2019, but I haven’t been consistent. There were days (before my son was born) when I’ve spent 8 or even 10 hours in one day working on it, but after it has been left for months and months. This way of handling it was a huge time wasting. When I returned to work after very long break, I had to spend at least 1 hour to figure out what have I done so far, go through all my notes I’ve made on the way. Spending just an hour every day, will not allow me to forget about my progress, so although I work just 1 hour a day, it is a very productive hour (it depends on the fact, whether my son sleeps for the whole hour, but any way, my son will be priority no matter what).

Also, having to be focused just for 1 hour doesn’t seem as hard, as if I were to schedule 5 hour in one day a week. And any way, if I can work longer, there is no problem with that either. 1 hour is just minimum of the effort I intend to make during 2020.

That’s it for today’s post. Please keep your fingers crossed that I will actually manage to make this resolution happen. I wish you a very productive day and I’ll see you in my next post.

Keep your bullet journal with you at all times and set it up before you are going to use it.

Hi guys,

Today I will continue my little series about New Year resolution. As you must have seen in the title of this post, I will explain why I’ve decided to include keeping my set up bullet journal with me where ever I’ll go.

Let’s get right into the topic. Firstly, why bullet journal? And answer for that is very simple. As the idea of bullet journal is that you are designing it by yourself, it gives me flexibility to include everything I need in one place. Also, I can alter the amount of place needed each month for my planning accordingly to the amount of things I have to do. Thanks to that, I can’t run out of the space and be forced to keep writing my important things in random places and have to look for them when I need it. On the other hand, there is no waste of space when I don’t need as much space as I could have in pre printed planner.

Another advantage in my opinion is that process of setting it up itself is very relaxing. This year I’ve decided to make my bullet journal very colourful, with a theme for each month and a lot of doodles. This way I hope to practice drawing (at least exercise my hand to be able to make decent simple pictures). This was one of the reasons, why I went for a traditional journal, instead of any app (they are apps for bullet journaling available too, if you are more of I-keep-everything-online person). The other reason is, that I am not relying on battery level in my phone. I don’t have to be worry that, if app I am using will disappear from the market, all my schedules, plans, etc. will be gone with it.

Very important thing in my opinion is the fact that drawing and playing with colours in my bullet journal really boost my creativity, which is very important for me now, as I am working on my own apps. It will require a lot of decisions to be made, problems to solve and ideas, which will allow me to make my app a decent product. Creativity will be very appreciated, when I will run over a difficult problem.

Also by setting it regularly, I hope to work on my responsibility. As you might have noticed, there are a lot of things ‘I will do’ and I mostly end up not even starting them. Having this one thing I have to do on a monthly basis, is a beginning of working on my personality. But this is a subject for another post.

Let’s get into the part of keeping my bullet journal with my all the time. There are a lot of situation in my life, when idea comes to my mind. Although, I do all my best to remember it, I tend to let it be replaced by every day things. Having my bullet journal with me, will allow me to record everything and think about sense of it whenever I’ll have some time to spare. This way, I hope to be more focused on present, instead of trying to think about the future. Having it set up upfront will make prepared for anything popping out throughout the day (hopefully).

I hope that this short post explained you the reason, why having bullet journal on hand is so important that it became my 2020 resolution.

That’s it for today’s post. I wish you a very productive day and I’ll see you in my next post.

Have a list of projects, but focus on maximum two at the time

Hi guys,

Today I would like to explain you one of my 2020 resolutions. It might seem obvious for some of you, others might be thinking why this kind of resolution? So let me explain you what have made me to make this decision.

If you have read my oldest post, you might realised that I’ve been trying to get a lot of things at the same time. Because of this my to-do list has grown to huge sizes. There was no chance to complete even half of the task I had, although I haven’t got a child at the time. It was just too many things I’ve been working on.

And the biggest problem was that I still kept having new ideas and wanted to incorporate them in my over filled schedule. There was always something I potentially could do. The only problem was time, so I kept ending up not focusing on any of my projects properly and not getting anything done. I’ve always had the feeling that I will miss great opportunity, if I will not at least try. And this circle was going on continuously.

That’s why one of my New Year resolutions is to have a list of projects, but focus on two at the time. This way, I will not forget about any ‘great’ idea, but I will have to complete at least these, which might be useful or provide my development. When I complete one thing (or after three monts I’ll decide that it wasn’t the best of the ideas), I’ll pick another project to focus on.

At the moment, I am working on two projects: I am setting up my YouTube channel (I know, I keep talking about it for a long time, but now you know why it never worked) and I work on my app (well, actually it will be just a website at first; as it will start running, I will work on a mobile version of it).

Having just two important things, I can each day include at least a small task bringing me closer completing them (and I can actually manage to get these tasks done). This small change has made me much less stressed and motivated to work towards my goals.

And new ideas? There are plenty of them. But now they are out of my mind in my bullet journal waiting for their turn.

With this thought I would like to finish this post. I wish you a very productive day and I’ll see you in my next post.

2019 review – what have happened and how it has changed my life

Hi guys,

Or maybe better welcome again? I haven’t been posting for a long long time. And here I am. With new energy and ready to start all over again.

Was it a burn out? Definitely not. There were just a lot of circumstances, which made me extremely drained and posting would make my plate over filled. I needed to put my life together first, just to be able to come back once and for good. And I can’t say I did it already, but I hope I’ve gotten on a right path finally.

But what have actually happened? Why I couldn’t find at least a bit time to say that I am alive, that everything is going on well? Let’s be honest. I could find a time for this, but before informing you, I wanted to think what to do first. No more promises, just actions. So before I’ll let you know about my plans for 2020, I will quickly give you some insight into my 2019. Here are some of the main events that changed my life:

My son was born

This is probably the most life changing thing that could ever happen – new addition to the family. This small human being, who becomes your bigger love since the day you are pregnant, the most energy draining ‘chore’ you have, like an 24 hours 7 days a week job. No holiday, no doctor’s leave.

At the end of the day, you start thinking that you can’t do it any more and again there is a crying coming from the cot. You take this little guy, who wraps his hands around your neck and fall asleep momentarily. You put him back into the cot, with “sshhhh” sound and you get a smile in a sleep. And for this one little smile, it is all worth it.

Of course, don’t get me wrong. Maternity does not contain only hard things (I mention them just to show how easy is to forget about them). There are much more good moments. First smiles, first laugh, first word… There are the times when my baby falls asleep in my arms and I can’t stop looking at his perfect face, although I am drained myself. Small little hand going in your direction, when he see you after a long time (five minutes in the bathroom is already too much 😉).

All parents out there have a clue how my child changed my life. How many new responsibilities are you getting with just a tiny human. But at the same time, my son became my biggest motivation. He is the one, who makes me get up from bed each morning; he is the one, for who I am ready to hustle, as long as I will be able to spend time with him; and finally, he is the one, who’s future matter to me.

I have moved – twice

For those who have been here for longer, you knew that I moved the home in February. However, we had to move right before Christmas too, as our old place have been sold. This was a great challenge. Especially with the little one, who finally could enjoy presence of both parents for the entire days.

I started a full time job

Also, if you have read my old posts, you know that when I found out that I am pregnant, I’ve lost my old job (officially not lost, but got my hours reduced to 3/week). So I’ve started to work during the weekends through agency and stopped whren my son was born. Having him in a NICU, we both could not work. My partner took off (unpaid), had to wait till I return to work till my son is a out of hospital and at least a bot older. But when he was around 4 months, there was no choice. We were simply not managing it. I had to go back to work in the weekend (which haven’t helped much, but was better than nothing) to finally find a full time job, which is perfect, because I work when my son is sleeping any way.

I took a gap year in my university

This time I already had too much on my plate. I was working full time at nights, looking after my son during day time. Losing two of those days each week, were just too much for me. I was missing this little guy too much. And I don’t think it was easy for him either. Yes, I am in my gap year.

Our finances went on minus

Yes, this is a hard thing. Having baby born comes with many new spending which you can’t think beforehand (especially if this is your first baby). Being unemployed and with my husband not working for good 1 month (when my son was in hospital and a bit after), forced us to borrow some money from our friends, so we could make it. We are still paying it back, but slowly getting to the point, where we are ok.

And here is the time to come to my 2020 resolutions. There are only few of them, so I can focus on them and actually be able to say that I did it. Let me just put them in a bullets today, as times goes, I will explain what some of them means to me and how I think it will help me:

  • Get debt free
  • Have list of projects, but focus on maximum two at the time
  • Keep your bullet journal with you at all times, set up it before the time, when you are going to use it
  • Have a 1 hour of “working for your future” every day
  • Spend as much quality time with your son, as it is possible
  • Set up a routine, which is working for everyone at home and stick to it
  • Save at least £5000 by the end of 2020

These are all of my 2020 resolutions. Some of them are obvious, some will be explained in following posts. I hope you enjoyed this post. Since now, there will be one post each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

I wish you a very productive day and I’ll see you in my next post.

Education? Why do I need it?

Hi guys,

Today I will try to explain you, why education should be a very important thing in people’s life. I have a feeling that at the moment people could be divided into three categories. First one does not see any point of learning at all. They could spend the whole day watching tv, partying or just lying down in the bed. Second group will contain all these people, who don’t really care for education. They might be doing well at school, but just because someone is expecting this from them. They don’t see importance in learning, but they don’t mind it either. And finally third group will do a lot to be able to learn a new thing. They feel like learning is their hobby.

No matter what group do you belong to, you might find it interesting to find out why do I thing that education is important. First of all, learning new things makes you capable to do more jobs. Your cv is becoming more and more unique, as you have learnt a lot of different skills. That makes you more required potential employee.

There are also other advantages of learning. We’ve been taught in school, that learning helps your brain develop correctly. It shortens time you need to learn new things, what could help you a lot if you were to do something what requires you to learn new things quickly.

I also thing that as more you’ll learn, as more likely you are going to find something what you love to do. In my opinion, it is very hard to find some activity which would make us get up from bed with smile on our face. I have been struggling to find one for a long time. But as I was working on a project in school and doing my research, I found one. As I’ve started learning, I’ve realised how many opportunities it could create. This became a very important aspect.

And finally, I think that constant education is a necessity nowadays. When I used to go to school, I have been counting down years, when finally I will have no necessity to learn even one more thing in my life. How naive I was 🙂 It turned out that, with world developing so fast, there is no chance to be able to even function in the society. Just look at some older people, who grew up in time, when there was no internet, no cell phones, basically no technology which we know now. If they wanted to sort out anything, they had to go to right office, queue for many hours and after that their thing has been sorted. In today’s world a lot of these people find it hard to adjust. They are not able to learn how to use computer, where to log in to even transfer money for their rent. There are more and more institution, which resigned from face to face contact with customers. They did it to save people’s time, however, these older people could feel lost because of that. Very often they need to ask their grand children or children for help with things, which were so easy to handle in their mind.

The other thing is, that it is very easy to cheat people who are not very literate in specific topic. Even such a basic thing like security online. Some principles which would prevent your life to be destroyed. One of the examples I can talk about are profiles on social media, where parents want to share with everyone that they bought a new very expensive car, home, furniture, etc. and the next day they are showing their child in school uniform, without a fear, that someone could use their child, for example to get material benefits from them. Or pictures of naked children playing in the garden or taking bath, which are landing on websites for paedophiles. All this is scary, but in my opinion it is a result of lack of education about security online.

With this thought I am going to end today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it. I wish you all a very productive day and I’ll see you in my new post.

Is hustling necessary?

Hi guys,

Today’s post is going to be sharing my thoughts about hustling. As you may know, one of my goals is to create my own business, which will be profitable enough, so I would be able to provide for me an my family with the opportunity of working at home. As I kept mentioning in my previous posts, since my son was born, my priorities changed radically. There is no longer ‘I’ now there are only ‘we’ with huge stress at ‘him’. You might say, that I had a husband before, so I wasn’t counted as singular any way. And you would be right. But with my husband is a completely different story. He is an adult, so if I would decide that I will not work any more in my life, he is capable to provide for us (of course we wouldn’t be able to go for holiday, buy any unnecessary things, etc). If we speak about my son, he won’t be able to go to work for a long time. He is completely dependent on me and my husband. If we will fail, his future will be harder. He won’t be able to freely look for his passion as he would be restricted to free activities only.

At the same time, my son is at this special stage of his life. He changes every single day. He learns new things at light speed and for me it is important to be present in his life and be able to witness all his ‘firsts’. As at the moment I am working in the night shift (as my son sleeps through all night nearly since he is born, and I can be with him for all the time, while he is awake).

Although, I would like to be able to look after my son, work and at the same time work on my own projects, there are days when I am simply too tired. As I am coming back from my last night in a row, the only thing I am dreaming about is my bed. And I thought that this is fine. I used to get between two and three hours of sleep before my son woke up and I was ready to start a day.

Everything was great, till lack of sleep did not knock me down like never before. Recently, I had to take two weeks off, as getting myself out of the bed was a struggle. The only reason when I did this was my son asking for food or just for some attention. I felt, like I caught the worst flu ever. Standing for too long used to make me dizzy.

And all that made me realise one thing. Hustle is important, when you are working on your projects, even with all other responsibilities on your shoulders. But what I decided to incorporate into my life is healthy hustling. Let me explain what I mean by that. In my understanding (I am not even sure if something like healthy hustling exists outside of my understanding) healthy hustling is an ability to use time you have, without sacrificing other stuff. So, I am going to continue working on my projects, but I will do this around my schedule, not by damaging my health. I will get as much as I can while my son is sleeping, instead of not sleeping when I am off in work. I’ve also changed my job and now I will spend six to eight hours per shift (which will stretch up to maximum eight and a half including commuting), not like I used to spend twelve plus two hours of travelling, including way to and from my work place. And I will try not to stress out any more. Especially, that I will do my best, using all available time I have.

I still call it hustling, as I will sacrifice my time, which I would normally spend on watching Netflix or YouTube (except self development, which is necessary to carry on working on my first product). For now, I have forgotten about any dead lines connected to my project. I’ve realised, that as long as I will do my best, it doesn’t matter when it will be ready. Hopefully soon.

This decision and radical changes in my mind are caused by the fact that I have a son. I don’t want to discourage him from working hard on what he love, just by showing to him how exhausting it is. I also want to teach him to work smart and care for his health and knowing that he is going to learn by observing me, I want to be the best example possible.

And with this thought I will leave you today. I wish you a very productive day and I’ll see you in my next post.
