Keep your bullet journal with you at all times and set it up before you are going to use it.

Hi guys,

Today I will continue my little series about New Year resolution. As you must have seen in the title of this post, I will explain why I’ve decided to include keeping my set up bullet journal with me where ever I’ll go.

Let’s get right into the topic. Firstly, why bullet journal? And answer for that is very simple. As the idea of bullet journal is that you are designing it by yourself, it gives me flexibility to include everything I need in one place. Also, I can alter the amount of place needed each month for my planning accordingly to the amount of things I have to do. Thanks to that, I can’t run out of the space and be forced to keep writing my important things in random places and have to look for them when I need it. On the other hand, there is no waste of space when I don’t need as much space as I could have in pre printed planner.

Another advantage in my opinion is that process of setting it up itself is very relaxing. This year I’ve decided to make my bullet journal very colourful, with a theme for each month and a lot of doodles. This way I hope to practice drawing (at least exercise my hand to be able to make decent simple pictures). This was one of the reasons, why I went for a traditional journal, instead of any app (they are apps for bullet journaling available too, if you are more of I-keep-everything-online person). The other reason is, that I am not relying on battery level in my phone. I don’t have to be worry that, if app I am using will disappear from the market, all my schedules, plans, etc. will be gone with it.

Very important thing in my opinion is the fact that drawing and playing with colours in my bullet journal really boost my creativity, which is very important for me now, as I am working on my own apps. It will require a lot of decisions to be made, problems to solve and ideas, which will allow me to make my app a decent product. Creativity will be very appreciated, when I will run over a difficult problem.

Also by setting it regularly, I hope to work on my responsibility. As you might have noticed, there are a lot of things ‘I will do’ and I mostly end up not even starting them. Having this one thing I have to do on a monthly basis, is a beginning of working on my personality. But this is a subject for another post.

Let’s get into the part of keeping my bullet journal with my all the time. There are a lot of situation in my life, when idea comes to my mind. Although, I do all my best to remember it, I tend to let it be replaced by every day things. Having my bullet journal with me, will allow me to record everything and think about sense of it whenever I’ll have some time to spare. This way, I hope to be more focused on present, instead of trying to think about the future. Having it set up upfront will make prepared for anything popping out throughout the day (hopefully).

I hope that this short post explained you the reason, why having bullet journal on hand is so important that it became my 2020 resolution.

That’s it for today’s post. I wish you a very productive day and I’ll see you in my next post.

How to be creative? And what for?

Hi guys,

Today I would like to talk about creativity and it’s importance. I will also share some tips, how to train your creativity.

But before we’ll go to training, let me explain, why I think that creativity is important. If you’ve read my last post, about changes in job environment, you might know that with technological development a lot of professions might disappear. However, I do think that it doesn’t mean that skills you need to do these jobs will become useless. The only think is to find the other way to use them, in order to provide for yourself and your family. And here creativity will come in handy.

Even now, there are a lot of universities producing unemployed graduates with huge loans to be paid for their studies. Even if their job haven’t disappear, there are so many specialists in their field, that finding a good job is being considered something close to mirracle. And very often these educated young people are forced to take some low paid job, or to stay unemployed, hoping that they are going to be part of mirracle.

At the same time, there are some grduates with the same degree, who managed to create very well paid job for themself. They just used their creativity to fill a gap between what people need and what market has to offer to these people.

That’s why I do believe, that creativity is one of the most important skills (or maybe characteristics will be a better word) in today’s world.

Ok, but what can you do, when you are not creative at all? Firstly, I think that this is a pure lie. Each and every of us is creative. The only difference between people who succeed and these who don’t is what these people do with their ideas. One of the examples for that might be my friend. Around five years ago he wanted to write a story or, if it’d turned like this, a book. He had great idea, I had an opportunity to read some fragment and I really thought that it will be very good job. However, after few days, he decided that there is no point, there will be no one who would like to read it. And he gave up. But I still think, that only if he wouldn’t give up that time, now he would be a very good writer.

So this is the main point of this post: to realise, that all of us are creative. We just can’t believe that it would work, so we are leaving our ideas far behind, just wondering what would happen if we would try.

However, we are never so creative, that we cannot be any more. So I will present you some of my tips to boost your creativity (most of them I found on various YouTube channels and blog post, but as it was long time ago, I will not be able to mention where exactly).

First of these excercises is to create a problem each day and write as many solution to solve it as we can (I put my minimum as five). Examples of such problem might be: “I lost my job out of blue, what I am going to do?” or “I found that I no longer have place to live, what I am going to do?”. This examples are quite challenging, especially that you have to find five possible solutions to them. But you can choose something less depressing, like “I want to develop an application, what it will be?”.

Another thing, I do to feel more creative, is that I am writting all crazy ideas that come to my mind. Each of them will do, if only while having them I was thinking: “this is pointless”. And from this list I pick one and try to make it happen (by the way, this blog is one of these ideas and so is my YouTube channel). They not always turn out to be good ideas, but at least I tried.

And last, but not least, have a hobby which requires you to create something. It might be writting, painting, drawing, making movies, designing clothes, etc. You don’t have to show it to anyone, if you don’t want to. Just do it for yourself, and do everything crazy what will come to your mind with it. You’ll see the difference very quickly, trust me. And who knows? Maybe it will become one more skill to help you in the future?

And with this thought I am going to leave you today. I wish you a very productive day and I’ll see you in my next post.

Trespass the fence of your fear to gain creativity

Hi guys,

Today, before I jump into the content, I will say that I am just amazing. I have prepared this post on Tuesday and scheduled it for Wednesday (at least this is what I believed). But as soon as I opened a wordpress app, I have realised that in reality, I have scheduled it for today. So here it is, again late.

However, today’s topic came out of nowhere. I have been thinking, how it is possible, that some people seem to be natural in their talent, it almost looks like that they have been born and they already knew how to be good at something, while others need years and years to bring the same skill to similar level. As it isn’t topic of this subject, I will tell you about my conlusion in the next post. Today, I would like to focus on creativity. Have you ever wonder, why some people are so open, always come out with great ideas, their art work stands out (not only because of their talent, but the way how they presented the topic)? While on the other hand, some people seem to just copy everyone around, without having anything original to show?

Propably, you would call the first group creative, but why the other are not? What characteristic you need to have, to be creative? Or maybe, it is a genes work and you can not do anything about it?

I have been thinking about it since quite long time. Myself, I struggle with creativity quite often. But what I have realised, my struggle is not to have an idea, but to accept any of them. Propably, it doesn’t make sense now, but let me explain it further:

When I am trying to brainstorm any problem (if it is about my personal projects, I do this on my own), I usually have a lot of ideas how to solve it. However, some of them are being rejected, before I (at least!) looked closer at them and analysed them. Simply, I am just ignoring them and forget almost right away.

When I realised this process taking place in my mind, I started to wonder why I am doing this. I mean, I complain very often about my lack of creativity, but when I have ideas, I am not even trying to analyse them. And I came to very interesting conclusion, when I figure out, what creativity means.

For me, to come out with a good idea, you need to reveal a part of yourself. The ability of sneaking your way into things that already exist, delivering it in your way – this is what creativity is. Wheather you are an artist, you try to create a website, or try to set up a business, which will be standing out from many other similar businesses; you have to come up with something, what haven’t been done before. And here is the problem. That means, that this part of your personality or past will be exposed to everyone. In my case, it cause a fear. Eventhough, I am not aware of it. But in the back of my head, I am predicting all judgements I would hear, if I would just get it into the real world: “what a stupid idea!”; “how she could think, that this is going to work?”; “there is not even slight chance of a success!”; and so on. All this can make me put my head down and just back up. It is easier, isn’t it?

Well, not always. I have heard a lot stories of people on their death bed. They almost never regretted what they did, but almost always did regret things, they didn’t do. All these things, they were lacking courage to achieve. They wish, they haven’t pay as much attention to other people’s opinion and just live their life instead.

I am the person, who has a lot of ideas in my head, some of them might not be good. But I will never know, if I will not try them. However, I am not spending enough time, to get them ready. I still keep starting new projects, before the previous one are finished and I am ending up with nothing. Because, what if people don’t like, what I am doing? What, if they will laugh and keep pointing fingers at me?

But what is the funniest thing in all that? Reasonable part of me knows, that nothing like this is going to happen. And even if it would, I wouldn’t care as much propably. So the only thing, what could propably happen, is just a failure. Which propably will be forgotten by everyone (including myself) quite soon.

And this part of you, which you would let out with your creative way of doing things, will propably not be spotted by anyone. Just because random people don’t know you well enough, to determine what comes from your personal experiences and what have been coloured a bit, to make it more atractive. They know almost nothing about your emotions, about this small part of your soul, you are exposing to them. They can see it, but they won’t be knowing, that you did this because this and this happened. They will just appreciate it or not, but as a whole only. Not each piece of it, as they will not analyse it as deeply.

And even if your project fails, you will learn something new about yourself. And what is more important, you will be able to move to the next project, without thoughts in your head wondering: “What, if I would tried that one?”. You will just know, it wouldn’t work. And by doing this, you will teach yourself to open more. To let your creativity to be free and keep yourself motivated (if you are not afraid of surreal consequences, it will be easier for you, to do what you love).

And with this thought, I am going to finish this post. I hope you like it and, as always, I wish you a very productive day and I’ll see you in my next post.
